The New England Crokinole League is a regional, multi-location league focused on bringing together players of all skill levels for competitive and social Crokinole play. The league runs two seasons per year, each featuring weekly match play and culminating in a League Finals event.
The Summer 2025 Season runs for 8 weeks, starting the week of July 7 and ending the week of August 25. The League Finals will take place in mid-September (exact date and location TBD).
Each player competes in two matches per night. For each match, players are grouped into 3-, 4-, or 5-player groups:
3- & 4-player groups play a double round-robin
5-player groups play a single round-robin
NOTE: Where possible priority will be given to creating 4 player groups to maximize the number of games each player can play during each match. 3 or 5 player groups may be needed to maximize player capacity.
Each game consists of 4 rounds between opponents, with each round made up of 8 discs per player (16 total). Players face every other player in their group.
Scoring and gameplay follow official National Crokinole Association (NCA) rules, which can be found at nationalcrokinoleassociation.com.
Players earn league points each week based on match outcomes. These points determine a player’s position on the season leaderboard and are used to seed the League Finals.
To qualify for the Finals, a player must attend at least 4 league nights during the season. If capacity is limited, top-ranked players will receive priority entry.
The season registration fee is $40, which covers league operations/expenses, the remainder is returned back to the players via trophies, swag, prizes, and raffle giveaways.
At the end of every second season, New England Crokinole League will raffle off a Crokinole board to participating players. All registered players receive one raffle ticket per season, included with your registration. Additional entries can be earned by registering for both seasonal leagues in a calendar year and competing in four or more weeks per season.
The annual drawing is held after the second season concludes.
Crokinole is a fast-paced disc-flicking tabletop game where players take turns shooting discs toward the center of a round board, aiming to score points and knock their opponents' discs away. Think shuffleboard meets curling meets strategy.
2. Do I need experience to join the league?
Not at all! New England Crokinole League is open to all skill levels, from absolute beginners to tournament veterans. We'll help new players learn the rules and get comfortable before matches begin.
3. How are league nights structured?
Each player plays two matches per night. You'll be placed into groups of 3, 4, or 5 players and play round-robin style games against everyone in your group. 3- & 4-player groups play a double round-robin; 5-player groups play a single round-robin. Each game is made up of 4 rounds, and you’ll flick 8 discs per round, each game (4 rounds) may be timed at 8 mins.
4. What are 'league points' and how do they work?
League points are earned based on your match results each night and are used to track season standings. These points also determine seeding for the League Finals.
5. What do I need to bring?
Just yourself! We plan to provide all equipment, including high-quality tournament Crokinole boards. That said, if you have a board and are able to bring it this may be helpful in case a location reaches capacity for the available boards. You’re also welcome to bring your own discs and board and start playing earlier.
6. Where are the events held?
Mondays at Mighty Squirrel Brewing in Waltham, MA, and Tuesdays at Spyglass Brewing in Nashua, NH. Players can choose to attend either location each week.
7. What time does the league start?
Free play starts at 6:00 PM, check-in closes at 6:45 PM, and league matches begin at 7:00 PM.
8. Can I play every week?
Yes! And while we encourage regular attendance, you only need to attend 4 nights to qualify for the League Finals.
9. What if I miss a week?
No problem! Your best nights count toward your standings. You’ll still be eligible for the Finals if you attend at least four league nights.
10. Can I make up missed weeks later in the season?
Players cannot make up a missed week on their own. However, a location may offer an official makeup week if they need to cancel a scheduled night due to weather, illness, or insufficient attendance. A minimum of 3 players is required at a session for scores to count toward league standings.
11. Can I arrive late or leave early on a league night?
No. Players must register with the event host at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time to allow for group assignments. Late arrivals may not be allowed to play. If a player needs to leave early, they will forfeit all remaining rounds for that night.
12. Do I have to play at the same location each week?
Nope! You're welcome to switch between Waltham on Mondays and Nashua on Tuesdays as your schedule allows — just play at one location per week.
13. What happens if a league night is canceled due to weather or venue issues?
If a league night is canceled, the location may offer a makeup session. Cancellations can occur due to weather, illness, or if fewer than 3 players are available. Players will be notified as early as possible via email or social media.
14. Can I bring a friend or drop in for just one night?
Yes! If they’re curious, encourage them to come for free play from 6:00 PM - 6:45 PM. If they love it, they can sign up for the rest of the season or join a future one.
15. How do I register?
Registration is $40 for the season and can be done through the website. This fee covers prizes, swag, equipment, and your entry into the annual Crokinole board raffle.
16. The season has already started, can I still register?
Yes, you can register up until the start of the 5th week as this will allow you to play the minimum of 4 weeks and be eligible to join the finals.
17. Is the registration fee refundable if I can’t attend after signing up?
No, registration fees are non-refundable. All funds are used for league operations and are returned to players in the form of prizes, trophies, swag, and raffles. Please only register if you’re committed to participating.
18. Can I register for just one or two league nights instead of the full season?
No. There is no drop-in or per-night registration. The $40 registration covers the entire season, including eligibility for league scoring, prizes, raffles, and the League Finals (if qualified).
19. Is there an additional cost to participate in the League Finals?
No, there is no additional fee to play in the League Finals. As long as you’ve registered for the season and attended at least 4 league nights, you’re eligible to play — space permitting.
20. What is the raffle?
Each season, registered players receive one raffle entry. Additional entries are earned by attending 4+ nights per season, registering for both seasons in a year, or registering multiple entries under the same name. At the end of the year, we’ll draw one winner for a Crokinole board.
21. Where can I learn the official rules?
We use the National Crokinole Association (NCA) rules. You can read them here: http://nationalcrokinoleassociation.com/resources/rules.html
